Courtyard Residence
3670sf Contemporary Single Family Residence : Generous Living Room , Entry + 13' ceiling, Kitchen + Dining, Gallery, Office, Guest Suite, 2 bedrooms + Bath, Primary Suite + Sitting Room, 830sf Garage, 1740sf Interior Courtyard, 380sf Spa patio
The idea for this custom home was taken from an inward-focussed European/Mediterranean aesthetic where the life of the home and family revolves around and within a central courtyard where dining, gatherings & social activities take place, and where broad eaves provide protection from the elements.
Open Corners Residence
4780sf Contemporary Single Family Residence : Generous Great Room, Library / Den, 2 Bedroom Suites, Primary Suite + Sitting Area, Connector Gallery, 600sf Guest Suite, 870sf Dining Patio, 980sf Garage.
The overriding idea for this custom home came from the notion of allowing the corners of the walls to be the primary open elements, rather than a more understood solution of closed corners with windows in more expected, traditional locations.

The genesis for this Contemporary custom home came from the site itself and the Owner's request for a private outdoor entertainment space adjacent to the Kitchen and Dining.
An alley at the rear provides vehicle access and the house was designed to enfold the central gathering courtyard with clear glass walls enfronting the Gallery and Dining.

High Desert House
4650sf Contemporary Custom Home : 3 bedroom 2 1/2 Baths, 934sf Primary Suite, Home Theater, 200sf Office, 1 view deck, 1 dining deck, 1100sf Pool patio, 740sf Garage.
This design sprang from the concept of opening up a building to the desert environment, rather than shutting itself off from what is traditionally perceived as a harsh, forbidding and unfriendly environment. Organized around three extended, bold masonry wall elements, this custom home seeks to embrace and invite the inherent natural beauty of the desert.

3200sf Custom Home : Great Room, 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 Baths, 620sf Primary Suite, Den / Office, Studio, Pool + Spa Patio, 220 sf Cabana, BBQ + Sitting Area.
This custom home started with the idea of rethinking straight walls to discover what might be realized with walls that have sloped vertical elements composed within a non-orthagonal, free-form floor plan. The walls inspired the plan which in turn informed the walls.
Canyon House
3972sf Custom Home, 3 Bedrooms, 2 1/2 Baths, Great Room, Den, 820sf Primary Suite, 785sf Garage + Storage, Private Patio, View Patio + Fire Pit.
The idea for this custom design came from a client purchasing a site in the desert SouthWest with sweeping views of an adjacent dry canyon and impressive hills beyond. The angular nature of the design positions windows to take maximum advantage of expansive desert views surrounding the home while still affording privacy.
A dramatic angular masonry wall bisects the home as an acknowledgement of the adjacent rocky landscape.
Situated near a 2 lane road the client requested the home be located behind a wall to block the road.
The wall was subsequently designed as an intrinsic part of the home.

Upper FLoor : 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, 725sf Primary Suite + 230sf view deck, 100sf Office, Gallery, open Lounge, 268sf Theater, Dining Deck, exterior Fire patio.

This design was born from the client's desire to touch the site as minimally as possible and not to dominate the small hill top even though the site sloped on all sides. We located the residence to one side and made use of the hilltop as an open fire pit patio.
The residence touches the ground at structural points only in order to preserve and maintain as much of the native landscape as possible.
Surrounded by fabulous Casacade Range views the home is opened up as much as possible so that the surrounding scenery permeates the interior on all sides, reducing the boundary between inside and outside to a minimum of the highly-efficient glazing system.
The family thus lives with the mountain high alpine environment as a natural part of their daily lives.
